Advancing Research in Multiple Sclerosis Rehabilitation

At RiMS, we are committed to driving scientific progress in the field of Multiple Sclerosis rehabilitation. Our research efforts revolve around three interconnected pillars: facilitating collaboration, initiating and coordinating projects, and partnering in European research initiatives. Through these, we create pathways for innovation and evidence-based care across Europe.

1. Facilitating Research Collaboration

RiMS serves as a catalyst for collaboration by connecting healthcare professionals, researchers, and institutions across disciplines and countries. Our educational activities — such as annual conferences, workshops, and webinars — offer valuable opportunities to exchange ideas, form partnerships, and launch new research initiatives.

We also provide targeted Research Grants (RiGRa) and the Fellowship Exchange Programme to empower early-career professionals and foster international knowledge exchange in MS rehabilitation research.

2. Initiating & Coordinating Research Projects

RiMS actively drives research by initiating and coordinating collaborative studies and projects, particularly within our Special Interest Groups (SIGs). These SIGs serve as thematic research hubs, tackling key topics such as mobility, cognition, sexuality, communication, and more. Each group brings together experts from different backgrounds to generate evidence, share best practices, and pilot innovative interventions.

3. Partnering in EU-Funded Research

As a trusted partner, RiMS also contributes to European research consortia. We are currently involved in projects such as GESTUS, which aims to enhance gender-sensitive rehabilitation strategies, and TEN4CARE, which explores ways to integrate informal caregivers into MS rehabilitation planning.

By collaborating on large-scale initiatives, RiMS helps translate research into real-world impact, ultimately improving quality of care and patient outcomes across Europe.
