SIG Mobility

Advancing mobility research and rehabilitation through collaboration, evidence and innovation

SIG Mobility

About us

The Special Interest Group (SIG) on Mobility is a European initiative within RiMS that unites healthcare professionals and researchers to enhance mobility outcomes for people with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS). Founded on a commitment to evidence-based rehabilitation, the group fosters innovation through regular meetings, multidisciplinary collaboration, and active knowledge exchange. With a strong focus on clinical impact, SIG Mobility plays a key role in shaping practices and policies related to mobility in Multiple Sclerosis care across Europe.

  • ➔ Who participates

SIG Mobility includes physiotherapists, rehabilitation doctors, and clinical researchers focused on mobility issues in PwMS. These professionals contribute insights from both clinical practice and academic research, forming a vibrant network of expertise.

  • ➔ How it started

Established in 1998, SIG Mobility began as a platform to strengthen professional exchange in Multiple Sclerosis rehabilitation. Since then, it has convened biannual meetings—one during the RiMS Conference, and one hosted locally—to support joint learning, project work, and international collaboration.

  • ➔ Our goals

    • Share clinical expertise on focused Multiple Sclerosis mobility topics
    • Evaluate new therapeutic approaches for their clinical relevance
    • Support collaborative research and aid in interpreting findings
    • Enhance care management for people with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS)
    • Facilitate international publications and multicenter research collaborations

Meetings & Reports

SIG Mobility organizes two meetings each year:

  1. A short 1.5-hour workshop during the RiMS Annual Conference.
  2. An interactive two-day meeting hosted by a member center.

These meetings combine expert presentations, clinical sessions, and collaborative workgroups focused on MS rehabilitation.
