SIG Bladder, Bowel & Sexuality
Promoting evidence-based care, research, and collaboration to address bladder, bowel, and sexual health in Multiple Sclerosis
The Special Interest Group (SIG) on Bladder, Bowel & Sexuality is committed to advancing evidence-based care for people with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS) who experience urological, bowel, or sexual dysfunctions.
Through collaborative research, shared expertise, and international exchange, the SIG strives to raise awareness, improve clinical practices, and encourage innovation in this often underrepresented area of Multiple Sclerosis care.
This SIG welcomes healthcare professionals, researchers, and rehabilitation specialists with a special interest in the management of bladder, bowel, or sexual health in PwMS. Multidisciplinary participation ensures a broad and inclusive approach.
With a history of publishing guidelines and hosting educational workshops at international conferences, the SIG has served as a platform for discussion and dissemination of best practices. Efforts are underway to strengthen member engagement and expand its network across Europe and beyond.
• Promote evidence-based approaches in Multiple Sclerosis care
• Support clinical and scientific research in SUBDIMS (Sexual, Urological, and Bowel Dysfunction in Multiple Sclerosis)
• Foster international knowledge exchange
• Expand participation through outreach and collaboration
• Secure funding to support SIG activities and projects
The SIG on Bladder, Bowel & Sexuality contributes to the RiMS community by organizing educational workshops at international conferences. These sessions provide a space for professionals to explore practical challenges and share emerging insights in the management of sexual, urological, and bowel dysfunction in Multiple Sclerosis.
As the group grows, efforts continue to expand its network and strengthen participation through future initiatives and collaborative meetings.
