Chair Position Open – SIG Patient Empowerment

Ready to develop your leadership skills? Boost your CV and make an impact within the RiMS community! We are currently seeking a new Chair for the (rebranded) Special Interest Group (SIG) on Patient Empowerment.

Formerly known as the SIG Patient Autonomy, the group has evolved to reflect a broader and more comprehensive understanding of empowerment in MS care.

This position offers the opportunity to lead an international and interdisciplinary group dedicated to strengthening the role of people with Multiple Sclerosis as informed, active and confident partners in their care.

The SIG focuses on shared decision-making, evidence-based patient information, health behaviour change, digital empowerment tools and the social determinants of health.

We welcome expressions of interest from professionals motivated to advance patient-centred, equitable and empowering approaches in MS care and rehabilitation.

🗓️ Timeline

  • Application deadline: Sunday, 15 March 2026, 23:59 CET.
  • Decision: The RiMS Executive Board will make the final selection by the end of March 2026.
  • Start of mandate: Early April 2026

The first major task will be to organise your SIG meeting at the RiMS Annual Conference on Thursday, 11 June 2026, in Prague.

🤝 Commitment

As Chair, you will:

  • Guide the strategic development of the group
  • Foster high-quality transnational research
  • Support the design of practical interventions
  • Contribute to expanding an engaged international network
  • Contribute as part of the RiMS Extended Leadership Team
  • Attend SIG meetings twice a year — at least once in person during the Annual Conference.
  • Communicate updates through RiMS e-announcements, blog posts, and the Annual Report.
