Emilio Portaccio
Emilio Portaccio is a Neurologist, Associate Professor of Neurology at the Department of NEUROFARBA, University of Florence, Italy. He obtained his medical degree in 2001 and became a board-certified neurologist in 2007 at the University of Florence, Italy. Emilio Portaccio is mainly involved in research on demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system, with a specific focus on epidemiology, prognostic markers, neuropsychological features and treatments of MS. He participates in many therapeutic protocols on multiple sclerosis, and has published more than 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals. -
Michelle Ploughman
Dr. Ploughman is a professor of neuroscience and physiotherapist. She just completed her 10-year service as a Canada Research Chair in Rehabilitation, Neuroplasticity and Brain Recovery. Her graduate work focused on how rehabilitation modifies neurotrophins that support neuronal plasticity and recovery after injury to the brain. Her lab is located at the most easterly tip of North America and is equipped with robotics, functional brain imaging and neurophysiological measurement tools such as transcranial magnetic stimulation. -
Peter Feys
Peter Feys, a physiotherapist and professor at UHasselt, Belgium performs interdisciplinary research focused on gait and upper limb rehabilitation in neurological conditions, particularly Multiple Sclerosis as well as stroke, DOC and CP/DCD. Specifically, psychometric research of outcome measures, and research to gain insights in functioning by integrating neuro-imaging and technology are performed, followed by rehabilitation programs. He led the European RIMS network and contributed to initiatives like PMSA, PROMS, EMSP and SRRR. Active in global collaborations, he participated in the MS Clinical Trials Advisory Committee, PROMS initiative and a Cochrane Rehabilitation field meeting. UHasselt is part of WHO's World Rehabilitation Alliance, aligned with the 2030 Rehabilitation Action Plan. -
Ulrik Dalgas
Ulrik Dalgas, PhD is an exercise physiologist specialized in research on clinical exercise physiology of particularly neurological patients. Moreover, most of his research focuses on the effects of exercise therapy in persons with multiple sclerosis (MS). His main research covers the effects of different exercise modalities (e.g. resistance training and endurance training) and the disease modifying potential in MS. He is head of a research team focused on exercise in neurological disorders at Dep. Public Health at Aarhus University in Denmark. His is past board member and secretary for the Rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis (RIMS) organisation and the Danish MS Research Association (DAREMUS), and he has a comprehensive track record of being PI and steering committee member of both national and international multicenter studies. Finally, he has authored more than 210 scientific papers on the topic as well as several book chapters.
